ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Dec 18 (PIA)– The Angono municipal government, together with civil society groups, will distribute gifts to around 300 children this Christmas season through “Maagang Pasko sa Angono” at the Angono Municipal Gymnasium on December 20.
Youth-Cares (Youth Coordinating Alliance for Reforms, Education and Social Services), Angono’s KKK (Kapaligiran, Katauhan at Kapayapaan) Office and the Office of Mayor Gerry Calderon will spearhead the gift giving activity which is on its second year. “Last year, we were able to distribute around 400 packs to indigent children. Now, we are targeting 300 children including a few gifts to their parents,” Manda Icasiano of the Angono Public Information Office and Youth-Cares Secretary General, said.
The program is open to donations of rice, canned goods, spaghetti noodles, cup/instant noodles, spaghetti sauce, sugar, coffee, milk and other goods to be given to Angono indigents. According to Youth-Cares, around 23 percent of Angono’s population (110,000) or 25,000 people are poor and in need of support especially during the Christmas season.
“Maagang Pasko sa Angono” will take place immediately after the Year-End Municipal Employees Meeting and Christmas Party to be held also on the same day starting 9am onwards. (Manda Icasiano/Angono PIO/GGPIA-4A)
