ANGONO, Rizal – Nagsilbing panauhing tagapagsalita si Atty. Karen Jimeno, spokesperson ng defense panel sa impeachment trial ni Chief Justice Renato Corona, sa ginanap na lecture caravan, Mayo 12, sa Angono Elementary School.

Sa kanyang talumpati, pinasalamatan ni Atty. Jimeno ang mga guro sa kanilang taos-pusong serbisyo sa paghubog ng mga kabataang mag-aaral.
“Saludo po ako sa inyo. At, maraming-maraming salamat po sa ginagawa n’yo para sa bayan,” wika ni Atty. Jimeno sa humigit-kumulang na 300 gurong dumagsa sa nasabing aktibidad.
Ayon sa kanya, ang pagmamahal sa pagtuturo ay “malalim,” at inudyukan rin niya ang mga guro na ipagpatuloy ang kanilang masiglang pagganap sa kanilang propesyon.
Sinabi ni Jimeno na bilang isang kapwa guro, batid niya ang halagang ginagampanan ng bawat titser upang hubugin ang kanilang mga mag-aaral.
Dati siyang nagturo sa UP College of Law, maging sa mga kabataan sa Hospicio de San Jose.
Binanggit din ni Jimeno, na nag-aral rin sa Harvard University, na sa darating na school year ay babalik siya sa pagtuturo. Plano ni Atty. Jimeno na magturo ng Law sa San Beda at sa Centro Escolar University law schools.
Ang kanyang talumpati ay bahagi ng lecture caravan na may temang “Sharing Best Teaching Practices” na sama-samang itinaguyod ng Metrobank Foundation Network of Outstanding Teachers (MBFI-NOTED),DepEd-Rizal, Municipality of Angono sa pangunguna ni Mayor Gerardo Calderon, at Angono Municipal Tourism Office sa pangunguna ni Patnubay Tiamson.
Kabilang din sa mga nagsilbing punong-abala si UP Professor Emeritus Ligaya Tiamson-Rubin na isang kilalang guro at awtor ng maraming mga aklat ng tula, kultura, at kasaysayan, partikular ng bayan ng Angono.

The Muncipality of Angono, thru its Municipal Environment & Natural Resources (MENRO),  have partnered with the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) to conduct a one-day seminar on continuing Environmental Education amongst Pollution Control Officers of the municipality.  The said seminar will be conducted on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Villa Elena, Arveemar Subd., Angono, Rizal.

Angono, Rizal Mayor Gerry Calderon will welcome guests and speakers from the LLDA.  Among the expected speakers are Engr. Paul U. Mistica who will discuss the actual situation of the Laguna Lake by region.  Atty. John Andrew de Guzman will tackle some pertinent Laws on the industry while  Engr. Aloysius Capisonda will have talks on permitting requirements of LLDA.  Climate change issues will have a note from Engr. Angelica Celicious.

Engr. Emilnor B. Pasion of the Angono Municipal Engineering Office will have the opening remarks on the event.

Angono, Rizal, the art capital of the country, will host the Philippine Visual Arts Festival: The Rizal Experience (Pivaf: TRE), Feb 17-21.

Pivaf: TRE is the visual arts component of the Philippine Arts Festival (PAF) 2012. It aims to educate, entertain and inform the public about the continuing importance of aesthetics in life and the practical aspects of art.

During the five-day festival, artistic spaces and locations in Angono, Antipolo, Binangonan, Tanay, Taytay and other towns in Rizal will host various artistic events. SM City Taytay will host the grand opening event, which is a Rizal Experience Exhibition. The Art Camp and SM Taytay will host arts and crafts-making workshops; whereas, the Nemiranda Arthouse, Blanco Museum, Ang Nuno Gallery, 2nd Gallery, Atelier Gallery, Pinto Art Gallery, and Petroglyphs Museum will host a gallery and/or museum tour and other satellite exhibits.

A kite-flying festival will, likewise, be held at the Angono Lakeside. There will also be a photo exhibit of Philippine Churches, titled “Heritage,” at St. Clement Parish in Angono.

Other Rizal towns will serve as venue for a national arts conference (Thunderbird Resort in Binangonan); a cultural night (Club Manila East); an on-the-spot landscape painting (Daranak Falls, Tanay); an on-the-spot still life painting at a well-known Antipolo shrine with food delicacies of suman, kasoy and mangga; nature painting (Talim Island); and a Culinary Arts Festival (Las Brisas, Antipolo).

Pivaf is a grand celebration of visual arts that shows the development of arts as time goes by, how the artistry has been passed on to the current generation and the way they have transformed it. It also shows how the province of Rizal and the Rizaleños adapted to changes and how change influenced their art.

Spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Committee on Visual Arts in partnership with the Neo-Angono Arts Collective, an organization composed of young artists of Rizal, this year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Tradition and Innovation.”

Angono is the home of petroglyphs, of visual arts masters such as Carlos “Botong” Francisco and Maestro Lucio San Pedro, and contemporary artists who imprinted their name in the Philippine art scene, like Nemiranda, Bobit Andres, Lito Balagtas, Salvador Juban, Keiye Miranda, Wire Tuazon (not Mike as earlier reported), Weng Unidad, Pepito Villaluz, Perdigon Vocalan, and the Blanco family. From generations to generations, the artistry has been taught and passed on. The province is, likewise, the home of art collectives such as the Angono Ateliers and the Neo-Angono Arts Collective.

PAF is held every February in celebration of the National Arts Month in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 683 signed in 1991. The month-long festival is spearheaded by the NCCA, led by its chair Felipe de Leon Jr. and OIC-executive director Adelina Suemith, with Marichu Tellano as head of the Planning, Policy Formulation and Programming Division.

Bilang pagbibigay pugay sa ating mga Senior Citizens, pinangunahan ni Angono, Rizal Mayor Gerry Calderon ang kanilang General Assembly na isinagawa noong December 29, 2011 sa Angono Gymnasium.  Ito ay dinaluhan ng mahigit sa 1,200 na myembro ng Angono Federation of Senior Citizens’ Assn. (AFOSCA).  Nagsilbing “Christmas Party” na rin ang nasabing assembly sapagkat nagkaroon ng mga raffle draws kung saan animnapung (60) lolo at lola ang nagwagi sa mga papremyo.  Ang lahat ng pumunta sa naturang pagtitipon ay nag-uwi ng kanya-kanyang mga grocery items at iba pang gift packs.  Umuwing masaya ang lahat ng dumalo sa kanilang “get-together.”

Una rito, nagdaos din ng kanilang monthly meeting ang Rizal Federation of Senior Citizens’ Assn. (RIFOSCA) at ang Rizal League of OSCA Heads (RILOH) mula sa 14 na bayan sa lalawigan ng Rizal.  Ito ay ginanap sa Inang Bina’s Restaurant noong December 27, 2011 sa Angono, Rizal.

Samantala, dito sa Angono, ang OSCA ay nakapag-pamigay ng bagong OSCA Identificatin Cards (IDs) sa 65 na mga bagong myembro nito.  May 30 myembro nila ang nagkaroon ng Booklet Grocery at 121 na myembro naman sa Booklet Medicines, habang nakapag-bigay alalay at serbisyo din sila sa Lima (5) nilang kasamahang namatay na.   Ito ang kanilang iniulat noong buwan ng Disyembre taong 2011.
